Eigenschappen van koper-Nikkel Buis
De legering C70600 wordt normaal geleverd zoals het opnieuw getekende door buizen leiden in de ontharde voorwaarde. De combinatie van sterkte en de goede rekbaarheid geven uitstekende formability.
Aangezien het koper-nikkel zachter is dan staal, vreesde men eerst dat het ergeren zich een probleem zou kunnen zijn. De ervaring heeft getoond dit niet het geval is.
Corrosieweerstand
vele jaren voorafgaand aan zijn toepassing als materiaal van het rembuizenstelsel, was de legering C70600 gebruikt in schepen, krachtcentralecondensatoren en hydraulische lijnen op tankers, en getoond uitstekende weerstand tegen zoute voorwaarden. De vroege tests openbaarden dat het koper-nikkel bijna dezelfde weerstand tegen uitbarstingsdruk zoals staal heeft. Bij het testen, echter, wanneer blootgesteld aan zoute nevel meer dan 180 dagen, beduidend vermindert de de uitbarstingssterkte van het staal. De koperlegering blijft constant bestand.
